The 1983 publication of A Nation at Risk: The Imperative for Educational Reform is considered a landmark event in the history of American education. The product of President Ronald Reagan’s Commission on Excellence in Education Reform, the report concluded that America’s schools were failing miserably, with scores dropping steadily in all subject areas.
