Western Energy Alliance, founded in 1974 as the Independent Petroleum Association of Mountain States, is a nonprofit trade association representing more than 400 companies engaged in all aspects of environmentally responsible exploration and production of natural gas in the West. Prior to joining the organization in 2010, Kathleen Sgamma spent 11 years in the information technology sector, including managing the European consulting practice for a software vendor, and three years as a military intelligence officer in the U.S. Army.
