JOBS Act
On March 9, in a rare display of bipartisanship, the House passed the Jumpstart Our Business Startups (JOBS) Act (H.R. 3606). The legislation, which passed 390 to 23, was introduced by Representative Stephen Fincher (TN-R), but contained many elements that originated with the White House. The JOBS Act incorporates six bills, four of which have passed the House already. Among other provisions, the legislation would: Create a new class of companies called “emerging growth companies” that would enjoy relaxed rules under the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
