The U.S. Postal Service (USPS), which lost nearly $16 billion in revenue in 2012, announced last month that it would end Saturday delivery of first-class mail starting in August, a move it says would save $2 billion annually. Saturday package delivery would continue. Although the USPS previously had stated that congressional approval would be required for the change, Postmaster General Patrick Donohue now says the agency will move ahead on its own with the modified six-day service.
