Coast, racking up a bill of $40 billion in damage. In response Congress approved $60.4 billion in disaster aid, and the President appointed a Hurricane Sandy Rebuilding Task Force. The task force was charged with helping to ensure that the emergency funds were well spent and with developing guidelines to mitigate the effects of future natural disasters.
