Dozens of countries, including the United States, have pledged hundreds of millions of dollars to contain the Ebola virus disease, which so far has killed more than 4,000 people in West Africa. The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, which is coordinat- ing the global fight against Ebola, reports that the affected African countries have received $256 million in humani- tarian aid but that the “lagging” funding is hindering ef- forts to control the disease.
