In his 2014 State of the Union address, President Obama pledged to “pull together a coalition of elected officials, business leaders, and philanthropists willing to help more kids access the high-quality pre-K they need.” On December 10, at a recent White House Summit on Early Education, the President announced more than $1 billion in funding for early learning programs. The funds will be split, with approximately $330 million coming from private investors and $700 million from previously appropriated Federal funds.
