EPA Budget Cuts
The Trump Administration has said that the budget it plans to submit to Congress will call for $54 billion in cuts in non-defense spending to o set a planned military increase. The proposal is expected to include deep cuts in the budget of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) — now about $8.1 billion — that would result in at least a 20 percent reduction in staff and the elimination of dozens of programs. Grants to States and localities to help them comply with Federal environmental laws, which represent about 40 percent of EPA’s total budget, are expected to be cut….
