GMO Food Labeling
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has released a proposed rule establishing a National Bioengineered Food Disclosure Standard, as mandated by National Bioengineered Food Disclosure Standard legislation enacted by Congress in 2016. That law was intended to override a patchwork of State statutes, such as the Vermont law that called for strict and transparent labeling of foods that contain genetically modified organismss (GMOs).
