On October 10, the Senate voted 99 to 1 to authorize $6.1 billion for construction of 12 new Army Corps of Engineers projects and other water and hydropower programs. The House passed the bill, titled America’s Water Infrastructure Act, by voice vote in September. The bill now awaits the President’s signature. In addition to new construction, the bill authorizes feasibility studies for 65 new projects. It also authorizes $4.4 billion for the State drinking water revolving loan fund, which provides Federal financing to States and utilities for drinking water infrastructure.
