Limiting Protest Permits
On August 7, 2018, the National Park Service (NPS), a bureau of the Interior Department, proposed a new rule that would change the ways in which protestors are allowed to demonstrate on the National Mall and at other places around Washington, D.C. Each year, NPS issues an average of 750 permits for demonstrations and an additional 1,500 permits for special events in and around the Nation’s capital.
