Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the second woman ever to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court, died on Sept. 18, 2020, following a long battle with pancreatic cancer. Ginsburg, appointed by President Bill Clinton in 1993, was an outspoken advocate of women’s rights and a champion for American liberals. Within hours of Ginsburg’s death, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) issued a statement mourning her passing and pledging that her replacement, nominated by President Donald Trump, would receive a confirmation vote on the floor of the Senate. …
