The mission of the Environmental Protection Agency is to protect human health and to safeguard the natural environment — air, water, and land — upon which life depends. To accomplish this, EPA develops and enforces regulations, issues grants for environmental projects, studies environmental issues, sponsors partnerships, and educates people about the environment. Steve Owens is responsible for managing regulatory and scientific programs on pesticides and industrial chemicals, as well as overseeing collaborative pollution programs.
