Congressman Hansen, of the First District of Utah, was first elected to the US House of Representatives in 1980. He served on the Farmington City Council from 1962 to 1972, and as a member of the Utah House of Representatives from 1972 to 1980, where he was Speaker of the House from 1978 to 1980. He is a member of the Resources Committee and Chairman of the National Parks, Forests, and Lands Subcommittee within that Committee.
