Representative Stupak, of the First District of Michigan, was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1992. He served as an Escanaba, Michigan, police officer from 1972 to 1973 and as a Michigan State Trooper from 1974 to 1984. He is a member of the Commerce Committee.
