Senator Lautenberg was first elected to the U.S. Senate in 1982. In 1952, he co-founded Automatic Data Processing, the Nation’s first payroll services company, developing it into the largest computer services company in the world. He served on the New York and New Jersey Port Authority Commission from 1978 to 1982. He is a member of the Appropriations Committee, the Budget Committee, the Environment and Public Works Committee, and the Intelligence Committee.
