Language Enrichment Activities Program (LEAP) and Head Start Initiatives Nell R. Carvell, Director
The LEAP program focuses on teacher training and ways to improve preschool education. The core of the program is reading aloud from books and including language in a variety of activities every day. Nell Carvell is the Senior Advisor to Southern Methodist University’s Learning Therapy Program, and the author of the Language Enrichment Activities Program. She has more than 30 years of teaching experience. For the past eight years, she has directed a research study using the LEAP-Cone Center model.
