Founded in 1992 (as the Center for Reproductive Law and Policy), the Center for Reproductive Rights is a nonprofit, legal advocacy organization that promotes and defends the reproductive rights of women worldwide. The Center argued two landmark cases before the U.S. Supreme Court: Stenberg v. Carhart (2000) and Ferguson v. City of Charleston (2001). Prior to joining the Center for Reproductive Rights as a founding member in 1992, Simon Heller was a staff attorney at the Reproductive Freedom Project of the American Civil Liberties Union.
