Senator Kennedy was first elected to the U.S. Senate in 1962. He was the Western States Coordinator for the John F. Kennedy Presidential Campaign in 1960, and served as Assistant District Attorney for Suffolk County, Massachusetts, from 1960 to 1961. He is the Ranking Minority Member of the Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions.
