Representative DeFazio, of the Fourth District of Oregon, was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1986. He served as District Director for then U.S. Representative James Weaver (OR-D) from 1977 to 1982 and on the Lane County (Oregon) Board of Commissioners from 1982 to 1986. He sits on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, where he chairs the Subcommittee on Highways and Transit.
