For many years, marijuana activists have claimed that the Cannabis Sativa plant — which contains chemicals that produce psychoactive effects in humans — has important health benefits. Glaucoma sufferers have smoked marijuana cigarettes to prevent blindness, and the drug has been used to restore appetite to cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy and ease the pain of migraine headache sufferers.
