Lidster was driving east on North Avenue in Lombard, Illinois, when he approached a police roadblock set up to investigate a fatal hit-and-run incident that had occurred a week earlier. Detective Ray Vasil, who was manning the checkpoint in the center lane, alleges that he was nearly hit by Lidster’s car.
