In 2014 the Louisiana legislature passed Act 620, a law requiring doctors in the state who performed abortions to have admitting rights at a local hospital. The law mirrored ones passed previously in states such as Alabama, Tennessee, Oklahoma and Texas, which resulted in the closure of numerous abortion clinics.
