There are currently 70 million Americans in the workforce over the age of 40, and as the baby boom generation advances in years, that number will increase. As it does, the potential for employment conflicts covered by the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA) will grow, as well. In 1967, Congress passed the ADEA, which prohibits companies from discrimination in the hiring, firing, or compensation of employees over the age of 40 based on their age. The law gives individuals legal recourse in Federal courts to seek restitution for discriminatory company policies. ADEA was modeled on Title VII of the…
