It’s not easy being a wine connoisseur in Michigan at least, according to Eleanor Heald. In March 2000, she and a group of 12 other wine critics and aficionados joined a small California winery in filing suit challenging a Michigan law prohibiting direct shipment to State residents of wine from out-of-State vineyards.Like many States, Michigan has a three-tiered system of alcohol distribution from producers to wholesalers to retailers.
