Recent Action on Biofuels

Until passage of the Energy Policy Act of 2005, the major Federal biofuels programs were those providing tax credits for the production or sale of ethanol and biodiesel — the two most widely used biofuels. The 2005 Act established for the first time a renewable fuel standard (RFS) requiring the blending of renewable fuels into transportation fuel.
