The Center for American Progress is a nonpartisan research and educational institute that seeks progressive and pragmatic solutions to domestic and international problems and to communicate those solutions to the American public. John Podesta was President Bill Clinton’s chief of staff from 1998 to 2001, after serving as an assistant to the President and Deputy Chief of staff. Earlier, he was counselor to Democratic Senate Leader Tom Daschle and chief counsel to the Senate Agriculture Committee. He is also a visiting law professor at Georgetown University Law Center.
