Honorable Eleanor Holmes Norton
Delegate, District of Columbia, Democrat
Rep. Norton serves as a delegate in the House of Representatives. She has represented the District of Columbia since 1991. As a delegate, she has many of the same powers, rights and responsibilities as a House member, but she cannot vote on the final passage of legislation on the House floor. Prior to joining Congress, she was the first woman to chair the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. She also has extensive experience practicing and teaching law, having been a professor at the Georgetown University Law Center from 1982 to 1990. She is a member of the House Committee on Oversight and Reform and the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure.
