E-Cigarettes Update
On May 8, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued new rules that will bring e-cigarettes and vaporizers under the regulatory power of the Federal Government. The ruling requires manufacturers of e-cigarettes, cigars, and pipe and hookah tobacco to undergo a pre-market authorization process before their products can be sold. Products that were on the market prior to February 15, 2007, will be exempt. The final rule also prohibits the sale of “covered tobacco products” to individuals under the age of 18 and requires the display of health warnings on cigarette tobacco, roll-your own tobacco, and covered tobacco products packages…
