Senator Nickles was first elected to the U.S. Senate in 1980. He served in the Oklahoma Senate from 1979 to 1980. He chaired the Republican Senatorial Committee from 1988 to 1990 and the Republican Policy Committee from 1991 to 1995. He is a member of the Finance Committee, Budget Committee, Government Affairs Committee, Rules and Administration Committee, and Energy and Natural Resources Committee.
