Recent Action on Gun Control
Over the past few years, Congress has enacted significant amendments to the Gun Control Act of 1968. These include the Brady Act, which established new restrictions on the manufacture, sale, and possession of firearms; an assault weapon ban, as part of the Violent Crime Control Act of 1994; and a prohibition on gun ownership by persons convicted of a domestic violence crime, enacted in 1997.
