The mission of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, created in 1970, is to protect Americans from significant risks to human health and the environment. James Martin oversees EPA Region 8, comprising Colorado, Montana, North Dakota, Utah, Wyoming, and 27 tribal nations. He has worked in the environmental field for nearly 30 years, most recently as Executive Director of the Colorado Department of Natural Resources and as Executive Director of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.
