Consumers Union, publisher of Consumer Reports, is an independent, nonprofit testing and information organization serving only consumers. Its mission is to serve as a comprehensive source for unbiased advice about products and services, personal finance, health and nutrition, and other consumer concerns. Michael K. Hansen has been largely responsible for developing CU positions on safety, testing, and labeling of genetically engineered food.
