Honorable Sheila Jackson Lee

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, first elected to Congress in 1994, represents the 18th Congressional District of Texas. Prior to joining Congress, she was a municipal judge in Houston from 1987 to 1990 and a member of the Houston City Council from 1990 to 1994. In Congress, she has worked to advance several major bills, including the reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act, which she authored and introduced. She is a member of the following committees: Homeland Security; Budget; and Judiciary.
