Recent Action on Human Cloning Legislation

The announcement in February 1997 that scientists in Scotland had succeeded in cloning an adult sheep prompted immediate calls from the White House and Congress for legislation addressing the possibility of human cloning. Presidential Actions On February 24, right after the announcement, President Clinton asked the National Bioethics Advisory Commission (NBAC) to review the ethical and social issues related to cloning and issue a report within 90 days.
