Mental Health Gun Rule
On February 2, the House of Representatives voted 235 to 180 to strike down another Obama-era regulation, this one having to do with preventing people with severe mental disorders from purchasing rearms. The Senate followed suit on February 15, by a vote of 57 to 43. The rule, set to go into effect the end of this year, required the Social Security Administration (SSA) to report people who receive disability benefits and have a mental health condition to the FBI’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System.
