The following bills relating to Internet privacy have beenintroduced in the 106th Congress.House BillsH.R. 313 — Consumer Internet Privacy Protection Act.Introduced by Representative Bruce F. Vento (MN-D) on January6, 1999, H.R. 313 prohibits an interactive computer service fromdisclosing to a third party any personally identifiable informationprovided by a subscriber without the subscriber’s informed writtenconsent. It also permits the subscriber to revoke such consentat any time and requires the service to cease disclosing suchinformation. H.R. 313 prohibits such service or its employeesfrom knowingly disclosing to a third party any personally identifiableinformation provided by a subscriber that such service has knowinglyfalsified.
