Immigration Update
On January 14, during consideration of legislation to fund the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the House approved several immigration-related amendments, including one that prohibits spending to implement President Obama’s November Executive action to lift the threat of deportation for millions of undocumented immigrants. Also attached to the bill was an amendment, introduced by Representative Marsha Blackburn (TN-R), to reverse the President’s 2012 initiative to defer deportation actions against more than 600,000 immigrants who were brought to the United States illegally as children.
