Citizens United
On September 11, the Senate voted on a constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United v. FEC (2010) and other Supreme Court rulings that invalidated spend- ing restrictions on elections. The party-line vote was 54 in favor and 42 opposed, falling short of the 60 votes needed to defeat a filibuster and proceed to a final vote.
