Recent Action on Iraqi Reconstruction Funds
On September 7, 2003, President George W. Bush announced to the Nation that he was requesting from Congress an $87 billion supplemental appropriation for rebuilding Iraq and Afghanistan $66 billion for military costs and $21 for reconstruction. The Administration said that the appropriations would pay for the U.S. missions in those countries through Fiscal Year 2004. Congress had already approved, in April 2003, $78.5 billion for military operations and reconstruction in Iraq and Afghanistan, homeland security, and airline assistance. House Action.
