Statement by Labor Secretary Elaine Chao

I am pleased to appear before you today to discuss the Department of Labor’s proposed revision of the Fair Labor Standards Act’s (FLSA) "white-collar" regulations. These regulations set forth the criteria for determining who is excluded from the Act’s minimum wage and overtime requirements as an executive, administrative, or professional employee. The regulations that the Department is revising appear in Title 29 of the Code of Federal Regulations, at Part 541.
