The Sudan introduced to the UN General Assembly the draft resolution granting Palestine permanent observer state status in the United Nations. The Sudan has been a member of the United Nations since November 12, 1956. Daffa-Alla Elhag Ali Osman has served as the Sudanese permanent representative to the UN since August 2010.
