1973 — In Roe v. Wade, the U.S. Supreme Court, by a vote of 7 to 2, invalidated a Texas law prohibiting abortions that were not necessary to save the woman’s life. The law legalized abortions based on a woman’s constitutional right to privacy. In Doe v.
