In February 2016, a Federal district court ruled that two congressional districts in North Carolina were drawn in a manner that unconstitutionally disadvantaged a racial minority. The court gave the State legislature’s redistricting committee chairmen, Senator Robert Rucho and Representative David Lewis, two weeks to draw new maps.
