Richard Vieth, et al. v. Robert C. Jubelirer, et al. — This case was granted certiorari on June 27, 2003, and was affirmed on April 28, 2004. In a 5-to-4 decision, the Court held that a State does not violate the Equal Protection Clause when it draws a congressional redistricting map to achieve maximum partisan advantage for members of one political party.
