Representative Hensarling, of the Fifth District of Texas, was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2002. From 1982 to 1984, he was the Texas Director for U.S. Senator Phil Gramm (TX-R). From 1985 to 1989, he was Executive Director of the National Republican Senatorial Committee.
