The Ohio Department of Youth Services, which oversees the imprisonment and rehabilitation of youth felony offenders, hired Marlean A. Ames in 2004 as an executive secretary. Over the course of time, it promoted her to a program manager. In 2019, she applied for, but was not given, a position as bureau chief.
