The Colorado Civil Rights Commission is a seven-member, bipartisan board that enforces Colorado anti-discrimination law and conducts hearings regarding illegal discriminatory practices in the State. It was named as a party in the lawsuit brought by Jack Phillips and Masterpiece Cakeshop challenging its ruling that Masterpiece could not refuse to sell a cake for a gay marriage event. Frederick R. Yarger has served as the solicitor general for the State of Colorado since April 2015 and has worked in the attorney general’s office since 2012.
