EDF, a nonprofit organization with more than 300,000 members, monitors a broad range of regional, national, and international environmental issues and in recent years has become a leading advocate of economic incentives as a new approach to solving environmental problems. EDF participates in environmental education projects, maintains a Member Action Network to influence national environmental policy, and works with grassroots groups at the local and regional level in the United States and abroad.
