All registered motor vehicles in the State of Texas are required to display a license plate, although owners have a variety of choices for the design of the plate. Some are designed by the State, while others can be created by individuals through a public vendor, License Plates of Texas. The Department of Motor Vehicles Board must approval all plates before they are produced, however. There are currently more than 350 styles available.
